The first National Convention of the Auxiliary was held in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1921 at which time the name "American Legion Auxiliary" was adopted and the first national officers elected.
One of the major activities of the American Legion Auxiliary is caring for disabled veterans of all wars and conflicts and assisting thousands of other veterans to regain a place in civilian life. Over four million dollars are expended each year by the Auxiliary for the benefit of veterans.

- The AL/VFW and Auxiliary are working together to plan and execute the third annual Daisy Mountain's Veterans Day Parade and Picnic.
- Postcards are provided at AL/VFW functions to be completed by the public to write notes of encouragement and hope to our troops. These are mailed worldwide by the National Guard Armory of Phoenix.
- The Auxiliary provides staff at the concession stand at Bingo, run by the AL/VFW on the first and third Thursday of every month at Anthem Elementary School cafeteria.
- Approximately 538 holiday cards were signed by Auxiliary members and a letter of greeting and support inserted and then taken to the National Guard Armory to be mailed to troops worldwide.
- Books are collected and distributed to the wounded troops in the Phoenix VA Hospital.
- A candidate to Girls State and Americanism Youth Conference will be sponsored again this year.
- Provide educational scholarships and programs to the local schools promoting patriotism.
- Plan and organize our annual Pancake Breakfast in the spring to raise money to support needy veterans and families.
