Daisy Mountain Veterans

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives of millions through its community service programs and special projects. From providing free phone cards to our nation's active-duty military personnel to raising money for the World War II memorial, the VFW is there, "honoring the dead by helping the living."

Since 2004, Daisy Mountain Post 12031 has proudly served the communities of Anthem, Desert Hills, New River, and Tramanto.

If you would like to learn more about the VFW, please join us on the second Thursday of the month at:

VFW Programs
The efforts of the VFW Military Services department include:

Military Assistance Program (MAP)
The VFW Military Assistance Program (MAP) is the outstretched hand between the VFW and active duty, Guard, and Reserve military units. MAP offers grants to VFW Posts who participate in military unit functions, such as sponsoring "Farewell and Welcome Home Activities," "Family Readiness Group" events, or other sponsorship ideas. Locally we also help with packing boxes for the troops.

VFW Operation Uplink™
Operation Uplink launched in 1996 to connect active-duty troops and hospitalized veterans with their loved ones. The program uses contributions from supporters to purchase phone time for the men and women who are serving -- or have served -- this great nation, as well as hospitalized veterans.

Unmet Needs
With the help of corporate sponsors, the VFW Foundation receives funding to establish, administer and promote the Unmet Needs Program. Unmet Needs can give a one-time grant up to $2,500 for qualifying service members and their families experiencing financial hardship.

Voice of Democracy (VOD)
The VOD scholarship program is an essay contest for high school students. It provides more than $3 million is scholarships.

Patriots Pen
Patriots Pen is a nationwide youth-essay writing contest. Students in grades 6, 7, &8 express their views on democracy. More than 115,000 students compete annually.

VFW Scout of the Year
The Scouting Program provides a $5,000 first place award to an outstanding Scout.

Flag Education
Flags and flag education are important elements of the VFW. We work closely with the community and collect flags for retirement ceremonies.
